Since the commencement of the Yulong Copper Mine expansion and renovation project in April 2019, all cadres and employees of the Yulong Copper Mine have further identified shortcomings, made up for deficiencies, boosted morale, increased pressure, overcome various difficulties, implemented a reverse schedule, and utilized visual management, working diligently and efficiently to steadily advance project construction.

The snow-capped mountains stretch endlessly, and the icy peaks stand tall against the sky. This is the tranquil northern section of the watershed between the Jinsha River and the Lancang River in the southeastern corner of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Vast metal reserves coexist with a harsh natural environment; on one hand, it boasts the second-largest copper reserves in the country, and on the other, it faces high-altitude glaciers above 4500 meters. Every footprint records the arduous journey.

The Yulong Copper Mine is located here. In 2009, Western Mining Group Co., Ltd. restarted the development and utilization plan for the Yulong Copper Mine, and in the following years gradually maximized the production capacity of the Yulong Copper Mine Phase I project.

In 2015, the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government put forward a 16-character goal for Western Mining: "Build internal confidence and external image, and recreate brilliance through a second entrepreneurial endeavor." To this end, Western Mining decided to regard the Yulong Copper Mine expansion and renovation project as a key project for the company's renewed glory, focusing on building a 100 billion yuan asset enterprise, striving to achieve the grand goal of a second entrepreneurial endeavor, recreating brilliance, and rebuilding a new Western Mining.

On April 3, 2019, the Yulong Copper Mine expansion and renovation project officially commenced. The Yulong Copper Mine deposit is of significant scale and economic value, awaiting development. However, undertaking a project with large investment scale, high safety and technical requirements, and strict environmental protection standards at an altitude of over 4500 meters is undoubtedly challenging.

Faced with difficulties and problems, all employees of Western Mining adhered to their posts, increased coordination efforts, and made every effort to ensure the supply of urgently needed raw materials and to keep product sales channels open, adjusting production rhythms and prioritizing the normal production of key links and processes, achieving accelerated progress on the snow-capped plateau.

On March 11, 2019, Tibet Yulong Copper Industry Co., Ltd. received the original copy of the mining license for an annual output of 19.89 million tons from the Ministry of Land and Resources.

On November 24 of the same year, the underground box structure construction of the ore crushing station for the Yulong Copper Mine expansion and renovation project was successfully completed. On December 1, all three tunnels from the mine's ore crushing station to the concentrator's coarse ore yard were completed.

At the beginning of 2020, affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the construction of the Yulong Copper Mine expansion and renovation project was delayed by two months, resulting in a tighter subsequent schedule and heavier tasks. "We must make every effort to overcome the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, make up for the lost time, and ensure the successful completion of the annual targets for various projects." This was emphasized by Zhang Yongli, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Group Company.

To this end, Yulong Copper Industry, taking the expansion and renovation production target as the starting point and a problem-oriented approach, actively studied and formulated the "120-day sprint, offensive action plan" for the expansion and renovation project. To ensure the effectiveness of the action and give full play to the role of the assessment and incentive "command stick", currently, various work surfaces in the mine crushing station and tunnel projects have been fully launched, operating 24 hours a day, increasing on-site management of key links and key processes, and racing against time to seize the construction period.

This key project, which promotes the three major transformations of quality, efficiency, and power in Western Mining Group and achieves the "second entrepreneurial endeavor to recreate brilliance," is expected to achieve an annual mining and selection capacity of 18 million tons during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period and will be ready for trial production by the end of 2020.

Mineral resources have always been an important material foundation for economic and social development, but long-term, high-intensity, and large-scale mineral resource development has put enormous pressure on the ecological environment. "Green mining" is an important way and a necessary requirement to achieve high-quality development of the mining industry.

On the morning of May 19, five brand-new, green, environmentally friendly, comfortable, and convenient new energy pure electric mining dump trucks slowly drove out of the Yulong Copper Industry open-pit mine area at an altitude of 5000 meters, officially "starting to run." With outstanding environmental benefits and first-class economic benefits, Yulong Copper Industry has ushered in a new Yulong model of pure electric mining truck transportation. Today's Yulong Copper Mine has a clean and beautiful environment, giving the mine "face" and fully utilizing resources, giving the mine "substance". This is a specific practice of Yulong Copper Industry's active exploration of a development model that coordinates the unified development of economic, ecological, and social benefits in the development and utilization of mineral resources, and it is also a vivid epitome of Western Mining Group's pursuit of green development, green initiatives, and green growth.

"The main projects of all sections, including the infrastructure stripping project, the mine crushing station and tunnel project, the tailings pond project, and the water supply project, will be completed by the end of July; the single-machine test run conditions will be met on August 1, and the remaining finishing work will be completed from August to September, and all process lines will be opened up, striving for a smooth start-up and trial operation in October."
